Scaredy Squirrel is fun on a lot of different levels. On the surface it's a great choice for a child who is very fearful as these issues are approached in a uniquely funny and sensitive way. But it's appeal is bigger than just that. The book's focus isn't just fear of 'things', but also the fear of change, the unknown - something that I think ALL children (and most adults) can relate to. So it's not JUST a good choice for very fearful kids - Izzy is not what I would call fearful and she loves this book! It's also just a very funny story for kids and adults. The illustrations are simple, but very expressive and appealing. And it just so happens that the sequels are great fun too! My favorite so far is Scaredy Squirrel Makes a Friend.
